I live and paint in San Francisco. At the heart of my work is the study of color and how form enhances its expression. From abstract landscapes to structures and patterns, I create simple compositions to delve into the interactions, effects, and fluidity of color.
Drawing from a lifetime of classical piano training, I believe that there is a deep connection between color and musical elements. The colors and forms of my paintings evolve organically, allowing for complete freedom to explore color as it serves and develops with the composition. My work engages with ideas of transcription, improvisation, movement, and rhythm. It also invites viewers to experience stillness and reflection through simple forms, while exploring themes of connectivity, perception, and subjectivity.
Influences I draw from include Etel Adnan, Richard Diebenkorn, Ellsworth Kelly, Helen Frankenthaler, and Josef Albers.
